MTN launches 7th Heroes of Change programme

MTN Ghana Foundation has launched the 7th edition of its flagship “MTN Heroes of Change” programme to honour individuals and organizations making significant societal changes.

The initiative seeks to identify and celebrates selfless individuals or organizations who dedicate their time and resources to support their communities and brighten lives.

As part of this year’s edition, the telecommunications network has introduced two new categories – Media and Digital Heroes.

The other areas include Health, Education and Economic Empowerment.

Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer at MTN Ghana, Adwoa Wiafe, noted the importance of acknowledging those who work tirelessly to bring about social change

She said the initiative celebrates the real heroes within communities – the unsung heroes who go out of their way daily to transform lives in meaningful ways.

Adwoa Wiafe stated that over the years, the impact of the ‘Heroes of Change’ programme has been substantial, with over 100 heroes recognized so far.

She added that winning the Heroes of Change award has also opened global doors for their winners, amplifying their work and its impact.

“The response has been overwhelming, with millions tuning in to watch the program, and the stories of these heroes have inspired many others to do good in society” she stressed.

She indicated that, this year, MTN Ghana is introducing a digital focus to the initiative, reflecting the company’s strategic intention to lead digital solutions for Africa and Ghana’s progress.

“We are pushing digital and inclusion this year, and nominations will be received online through our Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube channels” she explained.

She added that the public is encouraged to participate by nominating deserving individuals through the specified digital platforms.

“Season 7 promises to continue with the ultimate winner receiving grand prize of GH₵100,000”, she said.

She noted that MTN Ghana remains committed to supporting and encourage community leaders who are making a tangible difference in the lives of others, promising to highlight even more inspiring stories of transformation and impact.

Senior Manager of the MTN Ghana Foundation, Robert Kuzoe expressed his gratitude to all present, noting the importance of individual actions in catalyzing change.

He added that MTN Ghana believes that change begins with individual actions that is why they are dedicated to recognizing and celebrating individuals who selflessly make a difference in the communities.

He emphasized the importance of innovation and the “can-do” spirit in overcoming challenges within communities.

The launch was also a moment to honor the “unsung heroes” whose contributions have made a significant impact on the lives of many across the country.

The Senior Manager extended a special welcome to past honorees present at the event, acknowledging their inspiring stories and achievements.

“Your stories of positive change inspire us, and we are proud to celebrate your achievements. You are the embodiment of the power of change, and we are honored to have you as part of this community,” he said.

He indicated that, as the 7th edition of “Heroes of Change” kicks off, MTN Ghana Foundation looks forward to discovering more heroes and uncovering more inspiring stories that continue to shape a brighter future for all. He urged everyone to continue supporting and celebrating those who are making a real difference in their communities.
