Ghanaian forward Augustine Boakye joins French outfit AS Saint-Etienne

Augustine Boakye has secured a move to French Ligue 1 side AS Saint-Etienne in the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old signed a four-year deal to join the club from Austrian outfit Wolfsberger AC, where he enjoyed an outstanding campaign last season.
The former West Africa Football Academy player netted ten goals and delivered seven assists in 26 matches to attract the interest of the Ligue 1 returnees.
“Joining AS Saint-Étienne to discover the French championship is a source of pride. Ligue 1 is a championship that I have always followed and ASSE is an emblematic club,” said the talented Ghanaian forward.
“I was able to talk with my friend, Lucas Gourna, who told me a lot of good things about it! I can’t wait to discover this great club from the inside and meet its many supporters!”
Saint-Etienne coach Olivier Dall’Oglio is excited by the capture of the forward and believes he will settle in quickly as the team prepares for the new campaign.
“Augustine is a very promising young player, capable of playing across the attack. He is a very lively left-hander, which is what we wanted to complete the squad,” said Dall’Oglio.
“He is a profile that needs to be refined and comes from a different league to ours, but he is a great prospect! He speaks English, but also French, which will make his integration easier. I welcome him.”
