Black Stars climb 4 places in latest FIFA Rankings

The Black Stars of Ghana have ascended four places in the latest FIFA rankings, buoyed by their recent victories in the ongoing World Cup qualifiers.
Previously sitting at 68th following their disappointing group stage exit at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote D’Ivoire, the four-time African champions now hold the 64th position.
Despite this progress, Ghana has yet to break into Africa’s top ten teams, currently ranking 12th on the continent.
Ghana’s highest FIFA ranking was achieved in 2008 when the team placed 14th in the world, a milestone that has proven difficult to replicate in subsequent years.
In the continental rankings, reigning African champions Cote D’Ivoire secured fourth place, while Morocco earned the top spot.
The Black Stars, under the leadership of new Head Coach Otto Addo, aim to further improve their standings ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The team’s recent upward movement in the rankings reflects their potential and resilience as they continue to strive for excellence on the international stage.
