Fatawu Issahaku set to join Leicester City on permanent deal
Ghanaian winger Fatawu Issahaku is poised to make his mark in the Premier League next season as Leicester City has finalized plans to secure his loan transfer permanently.
The Foxes have decided to exercise the €17m buy option clause outlined in the loan agreement with Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon.
This significant move has been confirmed by Sporting manager Ruben Amorim, who stated his club’s acknowledgment of Leicester City’s decision.
Amorim said: “We will make money. Talented players [including Fatawu Issahaku] who don’t adapt here will move to other clubs and give us added value, it’s our system.”
Issahaku’s journey from his hometown club, Steadfast FC, to Sporting Lisbon, and now to Leicester City has been a testament to his resilience and talent.
Since his move to Sporting in April 2022, where he signed a five-year contract with a release clause of 60 million euros, Issahaku faced challenges in securing a spot in the first team.
Determined to showcase his abilities, he sought opportunities elsewhere and found himself at Championship side Leicester City on a season-long loan in August 2023.
Despite initial doubts about his adaptation to the demands of the Championship, Issahaku excelled.
His outstanding performances earned him the title of Leicester City’s Young Player of the Season, with six goals and 13 assists contributing significantly to the Foxes’ promotion to the Premier League.
As Issahaku looks forward to making his debut in the Premier League, his success reflects his dedication and talent.
