Ghana captain Andre Ayew continued his impressive goal-scoring streak, helping Le Havre secure a crucial 3-1 victory over Strasbourg.
After scoring in Le Havre’s thrilling 3-3 draw against champions Paris Saint-Germain, Ayew once again demonstrated his importance by finding the net in injury time.
The match started positively for Le Havre, with Yassine Kechta opening the scoring in the 24th minute with a well-placed header from a precise cross delivered by winger Josue Casimir.
Kechta doubled Le Havre’s lead with another header, capitalizing on another excellent delivery from Casimir on the right wing.
Despite Strasbourg’s late attempt at a comeback, with Frédéric Guilbert scoring from close range, they fell short of salvaging a point as Ayew sealed the win with a clinical finish in stoppage time.
The victory propelled Le Havre three points clear of the relegation zone, though their fate still hinges on the results of fellow strugglers Nantes and Metz over the weekend.
Ayew, who signed a short-term contract until the end of the season, now boasts six goals for the club, cementing his importance to their survival bid.
