Samuel Aboabire, Alhaji Abu-Hassan elected onto GFA Executive Council

In a fiercely contested election held yesterday, Samuel Aboabire, Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association, and Abu-Hassan Mahamadu, Chairman of the Northern Regional Football Association, emerged victorious, securing coveted positions on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council.
The battle for the two remaining slots on the Executive Council saw Aboabire and Mahamadu each receiving an impressive 6 votes, outshining their competitors in a keenly observed and competitive electoral process.
Linford Asamoah Boadu and Alhaji Salifu Zida, while putting up a strong fight, received four votes each, falling just short of securing a spot on the council.
The addition of Samuel Aboabire and Alhaji Abu-Hassan Mahamadu to the Executive Council will complete the 12-member lineup, adhering to the provisions outlined in Article 37(1) of the GFA Statutes 2019.
The Executive Council is structured to include representatives from various segments of the footballing community:
These are one President elected by the GFA Congress, five representatives from Premier League Clubs, three representatives from Division One League Clubs, one female representative from Women’s Premier League Clubs and two representatives from the 10 Regional Football Association (RFA) Chairmen.
The newly elected members, Aboabire and Mahamadu, bring a wealth of experience from their respective regional football associations, promising to contribute meaningfully to the decision-making processes within the GFA Executive Council.
Their successful election not only reflects the competitive nature of the football landscape but also underscores the democratic principles at play in the governance of Ghanaian football.
