Vice-President and NPP Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, extended a warm invitation to the business community of the Czech Republic, asserting that Ghana offers a favorable environment for trade and investment.

The invitation came during discussions with the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Peter Fiala, who is leading a Czech business delegation on a historic two-day visit to Ghana.

Prime Minister Fiala’s visit is noteworthy as he is the first Prime Minister of the Czech Republic to visit Ghana.

The meeting between Dr. Bawumia and Prime Minister Fiala focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, with Dr. Bawumia assuring the Czech Republic that Ghana is “the place to be for investment.”

Emphasizing Ghana’s reputation as the most peaceful country in West Africa and the second most peaceful country in Africa, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the conducive investment climate in Ghana.

The Czech business delegation, accompanying Prime Minister Fiala, engaged in meetings with their Ghanaian counterparts earlier in the day.

Dr. Bawumia expressed optimism about the potential for business partnerships and joint ventures to emerge from these interactions.

Addressing the Czech businesses, Dr. Bawumia encouraged them to explore the vast opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in sectors such as food and agriculture, energy, health, education, and infrastructure development.

Welcoming Prime Minister Fiala and his delegation to the Jubilee House, Vice-President Dr Bawumia underscored the historic nature of the visit and its potential to strengthen relations between Ghana and the Czech Republic.

He acknowledged the longstanding friendship between the two countries, dating back to the establishment of bilateral and economic ties in 1960.

During the bilateral meeting, attended by Minister of Finance Ken Ofori Atta, Minister for National Security Albert Kan Dapaah, and the Deputy Defence Minister, discussions covered existing cooperation in economic, political, security, health, and agriculture sectors.

Dr. Bawumia identified areas for further collaboration, including merchandised agriculture, education, technology, and trade, citing Ghana’s strategic position as the host of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Prime Minister Fiala expressed delight at the strong ties between his country and Ghana, characterizing his historic visit as the beginning of a new level of cooperation.
Ghana was acknowledged as one of Czech’s top trading partners in Africa, with commendations for the peace and tranquility in the country.

Appreciating Ghana’s stability, Prime Minister Fiala reiterated his country’s commitment to Ghana’s healthcare sector, citing ongoing support for healthcare delivery, including the construction of five polyclinics and the provision of hospital equipment.

He emphasized that healthcare assistance is a long-term priority for the Czech Republic in Ghana.

Before the bilateral meeting between the two leaders, a business meeting took place earlier, bringing together the Czech business delegation and their Ghanaian counterparts to explore opportunities for collaboration.
