Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC, promotes Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago manufacturing trade  

Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC, a leading financial institution in Ghana has partnered the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association (TTMA) in organizing a trade mission to Ghana to bolster international trade relations between the two countries. The week-long event brought together businesses in Ghana and their counter-parts in Trinidad and Tobago.

The mission commenced with an enlightening opening session themed, ‘Doing Business in Ghana’ which brought distinguished speakers from both countries to deliberate on the subject.

The Managing Director of Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC, Mr. Benjamin Dzoboku, highlighted the Bank’s pivotal role as a financial conduit, set to facilitate seamless trade between the two countries.

He stated that Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC’s collaboration with the TTMA and its partnerships with Ghanaian counterparts symbolizes a significant step towards future trade and investment which will benefit the economies and people of the two countries.

“With our deep understanding of the local market dynamics, regulatory landscape, and cultural nuances, we are here to guide you through every step of your investment journey. Our team is dedicated to providing tailored financial solutions, insights, and the necessary support to ensure your ventures take root and flourish on Ghanaian soil’, Mr Dzoboku added.

For her part, the Honorable Paula Goopee-Scoon, Minister for Trade, Trinidad and Tobago, gave assurance of her country’s commitment to developing and strengthening the frameworks necessary to encourage trade and investment between the Caribbean and Ghana. “We therefore hope that this mission will truly pave the way for increased business-to-business engagements between our two regions.” she said her mission was thrilled to be in Ghana to explore the investment opportunities for the mutual benefits of their shared industries through the B2B sessions of the mission’s itinerary.

The discourse was further complemented by insights from representatives of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Customs Division, Mr. Lemmy Kwawu, Head of Risk Management who elaborated on customs regulation, and the Ghana Standards Authority’s, Mrs. Jessica Nkansah, Inspectorate Director, who also spoke on the importance of maintaining high-quality standards in goods and services entering the Ghanaian market.

There were also contributions from the president of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), Dr. Joseph Obeng, who provided valuable guidance on trading prerequisites in Ghana, and a representative from the Ghana Investments Promotion Centre (GIPC), Mr. Edward Ashong-Lartey, Director for Investor Services, who unveiled the myriad of investment opportunities awaiting Trinidad and Tobago’s delegates in various Ghanaian sectors.

Dr. Fareed Arthur, the Head of the National Coordinating office of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) also shared his perspective on deepening the trade relations between the two nations within the African continental region.

The trade mission saw the active participation of the High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago, Wendell De Landro, the President of TTMA, Mr. Roger Roach, the President of InvestTT, Sekou Alleyne and the Chief Executive Officer of TTMA, Dr. Ramesh Ramdeen who echoed the sentiments of cooperation and mutual economic benefits that this initiative promises.

As a testament to the mission’s success and the deepening ties between the two nations, Republic Bank hosted a celebratory cocktail function for the delegates.

This not only marked the culmination of the week’s business-to-business (B2B) sessions but also served as a networking platform, fostering connections that are anticipated to translate into fruitful partnerships.
