Forty National Service Personnel Complete Military Orientation at Michel Camp
Forty National Service Personnel assigned to TDC Ghana Ltd for the 2025–2026 service year have successfully completed a two-week Basic Military Orientation Programme at the Ghana Armed Forces’ 1st Infantry Battalion at Michel Camp, near Tema.
The group, consisting of 22 men and 18 women, began training on March 9, 2026, and officially passed out on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, after undergoing rigorous drills and practical exercises.
The personnel, serving with TDC Ghana Ltd, were trained in physical fitness, leadership development, first aid, communication, fire safety, and responsible citizenship.
Management of TDC Ghana Ltd stated that the programme is vital in equipping personnel with skills for both workplace demands and national service responsibilities.
Addressing the ceremony, Ruth Dela Seddoh, Director-General of the National Service Authority (NSA), noted that the programme reflects the vision outlined by President John Dramani Mahama during the 2025/2026 State of the Nation Address, highlighting its role in nurturing responsible and productive citizens.
She explained that the orientation programme is part of a new initiative by the NSA to cultivate discipline, leadership, national pride, and civic responsibility among National Service Personnel.
Ms. Seddoh emphasised that the programme is not designed to militarise the youth but to provide essential life skills, including time management, teamwork, and emergency preparedness.
She further revealed plans to expand the programme nationwide by July this year, potentially reaching up to 10,000 personnel, following the success of the pilot conducted by TDC Ghana Ltd.
The successful completion of the programme, she added, is expected to serve as a benchmark for future initiatives aimed at developing disciplined and responsible young professionals for national growth.
Courage Makafui Nunekpeku, Managing Director of TDC Ghana Ltd, described the initiative as historic, noting that TDC is the first institution in the country to implement such a programme for National Service Personnel.
“This is not just a passing-out ceremony; it represents transformation. Over the past two weeks, you have been shaped through discipline, resilience, and respect for authority,” he said.
He urged the personnel to maintain discipline, integrity, and a strong sense of service as they return to their duties, emphasising that Ghana requires principled individuals who can be trusted to act rightly at all times.
Mr. Nunekpeku added that the completion of this first cohort marks an important milestone in efforts to instil discipline and patriotism among young graduates.
He also commended the Ghana Armed Forces, particularly the 1st Infantry Battalion, for their professionalism and dedication in training the personnel.
