Andre’s 94th-Minute Strike Stuns Liverpool as Wolves Claim Dramatic Win

Andre struck deep into stoppage time to hand bottom-placed Wolves a dramatic victory over defending Premier League champions Liverpool at Molineux.

Rodrigo Gomes had earlier fired Wolves into the lead before Mohamed Salah appeared to have salvaged a point for Liverpool with an equaliser. However, in the 94th minute, Andre’s effort deflected off Joe Gomez and wrong-footed the goalkeeper, sparking wild celebrations among the home supporters.

It marked the fifth time this season that Arne Slot’s side have conceded a decisive goal in injury time.

The result was only Wolves’ third league win of the campaign. Despite appearing destined for relegation, Rob Edwards’ men have enjoyed a spirited run at home, beating Liverpool and Aston Villa and holding Arsenal to a draw in their last three matches at Molineux.

Edwards celebrated the winner with a jubilant sprint down the touchline, though the 43-year-old later admitted the moment took its toll physically.

Victory would have lifted Liverpool level on 51 points with Manchester United and Aston Villa, who occupy third and fourth place respectively. Instead, they remain fifth, while Wolves stay rooted to the bottom of the table, 11 points adrift of safety.

The evening also carried an emotional undertone. Prior to kick-off, both sets of supporters paid tribute to former Wolves and Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, who died in a car crash last July. Banners were displayed in both the home and away sections in honour of the Portugal international.

Slot made one change from Liverpool’s 5-2 win over West Ham, bringing in Jeremie Frimpong for Joe Gomez. Edwards, meanwhile, made four alterations to the side that defeated Aston Villa last Friday.

In the build-up to the match, the Liverpool head coach admitted he no longer finds many Premier League fixtures enjoyable to watch, citing the increasing dominance of set-pieces across the division.
