Miss Intercontinental Ghana Winner Sues Organisers over Sudden Title Withdrawal
Miss Intercontinental Ghana 2025 winner, Chiaky Otuteye, has filed a lawsuit against Cloudz Entertainment after her title was withdrawn weeks after her coronation under what organisers described as “unforeseen circumstances.”
Ms Otuteye, a medical doctor and professional model, was crowned on November 8, 2025. However, in a surprising turn of events, she was later informed that she would no longer represent Ghana at the 53rd Miss Intercontinental pageant held in Egypt from January 14 to 31, 2026. The case is scheduled to be heard on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
Speaking in an interview, Ms Otuteye recounted how she was summoned to what was described as an emergency meeting by the Vice President of Cloudz Entertainment. “They emphasised that when I was coming, I should bring my crown and sash. That was when I got fully suspicious. Initially I was suspicious, but then I felt there would be something fishy,” she said.
According to her, she was presented with email correspondence between the organisers and their international partners, indicating that complaints had been received alleging she did not meet certain standards for the international competition.
“Apparently, the international organisation said they had received some emails from concerned people that I did not meet their standards for the international pageant, and based on this they had made a decision to disqualify me,” she explained.
When she sought clarification, Ms Otuteye said she was shown criteria including “poise, beauty, charm, intelligence and body.”
“With all these things they were very subjective. The only objective ones were that one should be a natural born female, which I am; you should also be fully a Ghanaian national. I am fully Ghanaian. I also met the body requirements,” she said.
She further disclosed that prior to the meeting, she had been subjected to social media trolling after a video of her, taken by the event’s official blogger, was posted online. She described the comments as “brutish and unsavoury,” targeting her personal appearance.
In a press statement, organisers announced her withdrawal, stating that “due to unforeseen circumstances… we have made a difficult decision to appoint a new Queen.” They added that the new representative would prepare “tirelessly to represent Ghana with pride and dignity.”
Cloudz Entertainment is yet to respond directly to the allegations.
