Dentaa says Beyoncé Feature Gave Shatta Wale Ghana’s Closest Brush with a Grammy

British-Ghanaian entrepreneur and producer, Akosua Dentaa Amoateng, has claimed that Ghana missed an opportunity to secure its first Grammy Award with Shatta Wale’s collaboration with global music icon Beyoncé.

Speaking on Fiifi Pratt’s show, Dentaa Amoateng said the song ‘Already’ should have positioned Ghana for a Grammy win.

“Ghana missed out on a huge opportunity with Shatta. The time he did the collaboration with Beyoncé was the perfect time for that to have been nominated. Shatta is someone who can get us there,” she stated.

She said this in reaction to the recent announcement of the 2026 Grammy Awards nominations, which saw Ghana miss out on bagging a nomination despite submissions from heavy hitters like Shatta Wale, Moliy and Black Sherif.

Lady Dentaa, a consultant for the Grammy Recording Academy, acknowledged that Ghana has a vast pool of talent capable of earning Grammy recognition, citing musicians like Rocky Dawuni, Samini, Shatta Wale, and Stonebwoy.

Dentaa Amoateng also shared a personal anecdote about her interactions with Shatta Wale. She recounted a hilarious moment during a phone call ahead of his birthday, when she told the Dancehall artiste she hoped they would finally meet properly.

“He was excited; he was like, ‘Yes, we need to meet. I have been looking for you. I would have married you if we had met 15 years ago,” she recalled with laughter.

Describing Shatta Wale’s personality, she said the artiste is “a great guy” and that the public must accept his uniqueness.

“Love him or hate him. Take him like a comedian. He is so funny,” she noted.
