Achraf Hakimi has been named the 2025 African Player of the Year at the CAF Awards ceremony in Rabat. The PSG fullback beat off competition from Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen to claim the award.

‎Hakimi’s impressive year with PSG saw him help the club secure four major titles, including Ligue 1 and the Champions League. He was instrumental in PSG’s success, logging over 3,400 minutes in all competitions and contributing 11 goals and 8 assists.

‎The Morocco international’s achievements earned him recognition in several prestigious teams, including the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season, Ligue 1 Team of the Season, and the CAF Team of the Year. He also placed sixth in the 2025 Ballon d’Or rankings.

‎Hakimi’s outstanding performances and trophy haul made him the clear favourite for the award, which was decided by a panel of experts and leading African football journalists. This is his first time winning the award, and he joins an illustrious list of African football stars.‎
