Ghana to host first-ever TikTok creators’ training in Africa

Ghana will make history as the first African country to host an official TikTok creators’ training programme, the Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, has announced.
Speaking at a media briefing on 29th September 2025, the minister revealed that the landmark event is scheduled for 12th October 2025 and will bring TikTok representatives face-to-face with Ghanaian creators for the first time.
“There is nowhere on the African continent where a government has facilitated for TikTok to come and meet with their content creators, to explain to them and give them the full utility of the platform,” Mr George said.
The initiative, he explained, is aimed at equipping local content creators with the knowledge and tools to maximise the platform, expand their reach and boost their ability to monetise digital content.
Mr George also assured the public that the government was working closely with TikTok to address concerns over harmful content, cultural preservation and online safety.
“We’re working with TikTok to stop harmful content and protect our culture. Someone may say ‘aban papa aba’ but I will only say the government is working,” he stressed.
The 12th October training programme is expected to attract a wide range of Ghanaian creators, from established influencers to rising digital talents, and marks a significant milestone in the country’s push to strengthen its digital economy.
