Access Bank appoints Nana Tea as ‘A Sandal More for a Better Tomorrow’ ambassador

Access Bank (Ghana) PLC has appointed popular social media influencer and philanthropist, Annor James Tetteh, popularly known as Nana Tea, as the new ambassador for its flagship sustainability initiative, ‘A Sandal More for a Better Tomorrow.’
The announcement was made at the Bank’s Head Office in Accra during the launch of the project’s third phase.
The initiative, which began in 2023, provides eco-friendly, durable sandals made from recycled car tyres to underprivileged schoolchildren across Ghana, while also promoting environmental sustainability.
Since its inception, it has reached 210 schools across all 16 regions, delivered more than 21,000 pairs of sandals, planted over 200 trees, and educated more than 70,000 pupils on recycling, tree planting and sustainable practices.
It has also boosted the local economy by creating over 500 jobs for shoemakers in the Ashanti Region, giving artisans sustainable employment while supporting economic growth.
Speaking at the unveiling, Edward Nelson-Addy, Head of Corporate Communications and Brands Management at Access Bank Ghana, said the Bank was excited to partner with Nana Tea, describing him as an individual whose values align with the project’s vision.
“We are delighted to welcome Nana Tea as the Ambassador for ‘A Sandal More for a Better Tomorrow.’ His passion for giving back and empowering the less privileged resonates deeply with our mission of building a more inclusive and sustainable future. Together, we will reach more communities and create lasting change,” he said.
Nana Tea, who played an influential role in the project’s second phase, expressed his commitment to leveraging his platforms to expand the initiative’s reach and inspire Ghanaians to support the cause.
He noted that the project was not only about providing footwear but also about giving children dignity, comfort and equal opportunity to pursue education.
By turning discarded car tyres into high-quality footwear, the project tackles multiple challenges, providing comfortable school shoes for children in need, reducing environmental waste, and promoting responsible consumption.
According to Access Bank, the initiative is a demonstration of how corporate social responsibility can create meaningful long-term impact while contributing to global sustainability goals.
