The family of the late Highlife legend, Dada Kwaku Duah, popularly known as Dada KD, has announced that his final funeral rites will now take place on Saturday, 20 September 2025, at the State House Forecourt in Accra.
The funeral was initially scheduled for 6 September but was postponed to allow for thorough preparations to give the musician a befitting farewell.
The announcement was made during a press soiree at the Creative Arts Agency (CAA) conference room in Accra last week.
Dada KD, who passed away on 16 May after a short illness, was celebrated for his powerful voice, soulful delivery and ability to blend traditional Ghanaian rhythms with moving storytelling.
His timeless songs, including ‘Tekyere Ma, Ene Menye, Wosuro a Wondi and Honey Love,’ remain cherished by both older generations and younger music lovers.
The family explained that the decision to reschedule was made to ensure that the funeral would not only be a moment of mourning but also a true celebration of the musician’s enduring legacy.
They assured the public that details of the programme will be shared soon, calling on fans and sympathisers to keep Dada KD in their prayers.
Dada KD had been billed to perform in London alongside Obrafour, Slim Buster and Kojo Blakk on 25 May, just days after his passing, making his death a huge loss to the Highlife music fraternity.
