Elders responsible for passing on values, don’t blame youth – Kafui Dey

Veteran broadcaster Kafui Dey has called on elders in society to take greater responsibility in shaping the behaviour of the younger generation, insisting that the youth simply mirror what they see from their seniors.
Speaking on Friday Fusion on ZED 101.9 FM, the former host of Who Wants To Be Rich? stressed that young people should not be overly blamed for societal challenges, since their actions often replicate the examples set by their elders.
“Don’t blame the youth. It is the responsibility of the elders to pass these values on to the young people,” he said.
“Are the elders passing it on?” he questioned.
When asked how he measures success, the veteran broadcaster explained that true success is rooted in excellence, noting that striving for excellence naturally produces rewarding results.
Reflecting on his journey in journalism, the broadcaster remarked that if he had the chance to start all over again in Ghana, he would still choose radio.
According to him, radio serves as a strong foundation for transitioning into television, allowing journalists to sharpen their craft before stepping in front of the camera.
He further disclosed that he would avoid relying on DJs to play his music if he were to revisit that aspect of his career.
The veteran broadcaster also revealed his admiration for American talk show legend Larry King, describing him as a mentor figure whose exceptional interviewing skills remain unmatched.
Unknown to many, the broadcaster is also a musician with several songs to his credit, including the satirical track ‘Why You Dey Bleach So?’, which highlights social issues with a humorous twist.
