MTN to temporarily suspend MoMo services for system upgrade Aug. 17

Customers of MTN Ghana will be unable to access the company’s mobile money services between midnight and 6 a.m. on Sunday, 17 August, due to a planned system upgrade.
Announcing the development, Chief Technology and Service Delivery Officer of Mobile Money Limited, Charles Asamoah Assah, said the exercise aims to enhance service delivery.
“This upgrade is to improve our services to you. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding,” Mr Assah stated.
The planned downtime comes just a month after MTN experienced another service disruption, which left customers unable to purchase renewed data packages for several hours.
At the time, the telco confirmed the issue had been resolved and assured customers they could once again purchase data bundles complete with an additional 15 per cent bonus volume via its *138#, *170#, and *567# channels.
However, MTN noted that data purchases via the MoMo app remained temporarily unavailable.
