Nigerian filmmaker accuses Ghana TV stations of pirating new film hours after release

Nigerian actor and producer Nosa Rex has accused some Ghanaian television stations of illegally airing his latest film just hours after its release.
Rex, whose new production ‘Prince of Peace’ premiered recently, alleges that Unity TV and other unnamed stations broadcast the film without his consent, depriving him of both revenue and creative control.
The filmmaker expressed deep frustration over what he described as a persistent culture of disregard for intellectual property in Ghana’s media space.
He warned that such practices continue to undermine the growth of the country’s entertainment industry.
His criticism extends beyond television stations to Ghanaian filmmakers, whom he faulted for remaining silent when Nigerian colleagues raise piracy concerns.
The incident adds to a growing list of complaints from other prominent Nigerian and Ghanaian creatives, including Mercy Johnson, Ruth Kadiri, Bimbo Ademoye, Omoni Oboli, Juliet Ibrahim and Xandy Kamel.
All have urged authorities to strengthen copyright enforcement.
