Medikal sparks outrage over inappropriate touch during live performance

Ghanaian rapper Medikal is facing widespread backlash on social media following an incident during his performance at the Evandy-Bani Hall Week celebration on June 14, 2025.

A viral video from the event shows the ‘Omo Ada’ hitmaker inviting a female fan on stage. The young woman, dressed in denim shorts, a white top, and Adidas slippers, appeared visibly excited as she joined the artist.

However, moments after she was embraced by the rapper, Medikal was seen inappropriately touching her buttocks, an action that has sparked intense criticism online.

The woman’s reaction, captured in the video, indicated clear discomfort. She covered her mouth with both palms, appearing shocked and embarrassed. The audience responded almost immediately, chanting “Obi Girl”  a Twi expression meaning “someone’s girlfriend” — hinting that the rapper had touched another man’s partner inappropriately.

In response to the chants, Medikal asked the young woman if she had a boyfriend. She nodded in confirmation, to which the rapper responded with a dismissive remark:
“You should all stop the fans. If there were no cameras here, would she have admitted to having a boyfriend?”

The incident has since gone viral, with many Ghanaians condemning Medikal’s actions as a form of sexual harassment. Several users on X (formerly Twitter) described the act as crossing the line, especially in a public setting where the woman’s consent was not sought.

Some social media users are also calling on the young woman involved to consider taking legal action, arguing that such behavior should not be normalized or excused under the guise of entertainment.
