GoldStars win first Ghana Premier League title

Bibiani GoldStars have won their first-ever Ghana Premier League title after defeating relegated Accra Lions 4-0 on the final day of the 2024/25 season.
The Miners achieved the historic feat just four years after gaining promotion to the top-flight league.
Heading into the match, the Bibiani-based club knew that anything short of a win would leave their title hopes dependent on results elsewhere. Fortunately for GoldStars, their title rivals Nations FC and Asante Kotoko both fell short on the final day.
At a packed Duns Park, the hosts wasted no time asserting their dominance, breaking the deadlock just four minutes into the game when Abdul Farouk Amoaful fired home.
Fifteen minutes later, GoldStars doubled their lead through Kelvin Oppong, who tapped in a cross from the right.
Accra Lions gradually settled into the match and began to control possession, but they lacked ideas in the final third.
After the break, Samuel Atta Kumi put the game beyond reach by extending GoldStars’ lead. Frank Amankwah sealed the emphatic victory five minutes later as a rampant GoldStars side secured their first Ghana Premier League title in style.
