By Solomon Nartey Tetteh

Parliament reconvenes today, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, marking the beginning of the Second Meeting of the First Session of the 9th Parliament. The House returns after a recess observed during the Easter break.

With the resumption, Members of Parliament are expected to resume full legislative duties, including debates, committee work, and deliberations on key national issues.

A major highlight of the upcoming session is the anticipated appearance of the Minister for Finance in August to present the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review.

Speaking to the media, Second Deputy Majority Whip, Mr. Richard Acheampong, outlined the meeting’s agenda, stressing the session’s significance in driving national development.

Ahead of today’s sitting, the Minority Caucus held a strategic retreat over the weekend to assess its performance and outline its priorities for the new session. Minority Leader, Mr. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, reaffirmed the caucus’s commitment to effective parliamentary oversight. He also expressed confidence in the Minority’s readiness to assume leadership in the next political cycle.
