Fameye Claims Highlife Crown at 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards Highlife belongs to me

Ghanaian singer and songwriter Fameye has emerged as the Highlife Artiste of the Year at the 2025 edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), a feat he describes as a “defining moment” in his musical journey.
In a competitive category stacked with acclaimed acts such as Kuami Eugene, Kofi Kinaata, Sista Afia, and Kwabena Kwabena, Fameye rose above the pack to clinch one of the night’s most coveted honours.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award, Fameye, known for his heartfelt lyrics and soul-stirring performances, expressed profound gratitude. “Being named the Highlife Artiste of the Year is a huge honour,” he said. “It feels like a clear sign that this year, highlife music truly belongs to me. It’s a recognition of the work I’ve put in and the path I’m carving within the genre.”
Fameye has become a prominent voice in the Ghanaian music landscape, particularly within the highlife genre, infusing his songs with introspective storytelling, spiritual undertones, and emotional intensity.
Though his style occasionally sparks debate, there is no denying the impact of his performances, which many fans describe as communal moments of healing rather than mere entertainment. His unique blend of traditional highlife rhythms and contemporary sounds continues to resonate widely.
Looking ahead, Fameye promised fans more of the authentic sound that earned him the TGMA crown. “I’m excited for what’s ahead,” he noted. “Fans can expect more authentic, yet modernized highlife music from me this year. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported me on this journey.”
His victory is not only a personal milestone but also a sign of the genre’s dynamic evolution—one that embraces heritage while speaking directly to today’s emotional realities. At this moment, no one appears to be doing it quite like Fameye. “This year, highlife music truly belongs to me,” declares the ‘Praise’ hitmaker.
