Black Satellites draw in tricky Group C at AFCON U20

Ghana’s national U20 team, the Black Satellites, have been drawn in a trick Africa U20 Cup of Nations group following the draw conducted in Cairo, Egypt, on Sunday.

The Black Satellites, two time champions of Africa, have been drawn in Group C alongside holders Senegal, the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The West African heavyweights are making a return to the competition for the first time since 2021, when they emerged champions in Mauritania. The tournament will also serve as a qualifying competition for the FIFA U20 World Cup later this year.

Ghana will be hoping to secure one of the spots for the FIFA World Cup, having missed the tournament since 2015.

Meanwhile, hosts Egypt, have been drawn in Group A alongside former champions Zambia, Sierra Leone, South Africa and Tanzania.

WAFU Zone B champions, Nigeria are housed in Group B along with Morocco, Tunisia and Kenya.

The tournament will begin on April 26 and end on May 18.
