Okocha anticipates tough battle against Ghana in Unity Cup

Nigeria legend Austin Jay Jay Okocha expects a good game against West African rivals Ghana ahead of the 2025 Unity Cup in May.

The Black Stars will renew their rivalry with the Super Eagles in London on May 28 at the Gtech Stadium in the second semi-final of the four-nation tournament.

With the Black Stars failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations while Nigeria struggling in the World Cup qualifiers, the game is expected to live up to expectations.

“I mean it is always a good match to watch. It is always a health rivalry so I am expecting it to be a good game, and a good banter before and after the game and if we have to involve Jollof rice, we will,” he
told Joy Sports.

“There are a lot of things to talk about but for me it is always a healthy rivalry,” he added.

Nigeria, who were runners-up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, are fourth in their group in the World Cup qualifiers while Ghana sits top in Group I.

The last time the two sides met, Ghana lost to Nigeria 2-1 in Morocco in an international friendly.
