‘Kurt Okraku is unwell’- Oduro Sarfo to Asante Kotoko

Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member Nana Sarfo Oduro has revealed that FA President Kurt Okraku’s absence and silence following the tragic death of Asante Kotoko fan Francis “Nana Pooley” Frimpong are due to illness.
Okraku, who is currently abroad receiving medical treatment, has faced criticism for not addressing the incident publicly.
During a meeting between the GFA delegation and Asante Kotoko’s leadership, Sarfo Oduro explained to the club that the head of the country’s football governing body has not addressed the issue due to his health condition.
“Since the incident occurred, he has not spoken publicly. The reason is that Kurt is not feeling well and is currently not in the country. If he was well, he would have been the first to visit Kotoko’s camp. Once he recovers and returns safely, he will be here,” Sarfo Oduro stated. The meeting marked the first direct engagement between the GFA and Kotoko since the fatal stabbing during a league match against Nsoatreman FC.
Meanwhile, Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee Chairman, Nana Apinkra, has issued a stern warning to the GFA, vowing that the club will not resume football activities until their demands for improved security and other reforms are met.
