By Lukman MUMIN, Accra

Spanish giants Barcelona have announced the signing of talented Ghanaian defender David Oduro from Accra Lions.

The young left-back joins the Catalan club’s youth team, Barca Atletic, after impressing during trials earlier this year.

In a statement released on Friday, Barcelona confirmed that Oduro will sign a three-year contract, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2027.

“An agreement has been reached between FC Barcelona and Accra Lions for the transfer of David Oduro, who will join Barca Atletic,” the statement read.

Oduro is a very quick left-back who links up well with his teammates and has good anticipation.

He also likes joining in with the attack, making the most of his ability to beat his opponent.

Oduro is expected to travel to Barcelona in the coming days to join the team for training, with his official signing still pending.

He has already made a name for himself at the youth level in Ghana, attracting the attention of several top European clubs during a recent tour.

The Accra Lions star underwent trials at Chelsea and Barcelona, with the latter particularly impressed by his technical skills and physical attributes, leading them to secure his signature.

Despite strong interest from Anderlecht and Bayer Leverkusen, with the Belgians offering first-team football, the 18-year-old chose Spain.
