Alexander Djiku ruled out of AFCON qualifiers, replaced by Jonas Adjetey

Dependable Black Stars defender Alexander Djiku has been ruled out of Ghana’s game against Angola and Niger in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Fenerbahce centre-back picked up an injury during his side’s Turkish Superlig game against Alanyaspor on Friday, August 30, 2024.
Djiku sustained a thigh injury and will be out for 10 to 14 days, ruling him out of the two important matches.
However, he has been replaced by budding FC Basel defender Jonas Adjetey, who is receiving his maiden Black Stars invite.
Adjetey is expected to join the team on Monday as preparation begin for the qualifiers, which includes a home match against Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday, September 5 and an away game against Niger in Berkane, Morocco on Monday, September 9, 2024.
The Black Stars are hoping to make a return to the Africa Cup of Nations after a disappointing tournament in Ivory Coast early this year.
