English-born Ghanaian defendeer Bobby Amartey has inked a first professional contract at English Premier League side Leicester City.
The highly-rated 18-year-old, who joined the Foxes at the age of 12, rose through the ranks to earn himself a professional contract.
Having excelled with the developmental squad last season and captaining the U21 side in the Premier League 2, the English-born defender will be part of the first team ahead of the new season.
Last season, Amartey made 14 appearances in the Premier League Two to add to the 21 matches he played for the U18s.
Amartey, who can also play in midfield, expressed excitement with the progress of his career.
“I feel like it (the season) started off slow,” he revealed during an interview early this year. “But it started picking up and I picked up quite fast and I’m happy where I am now. But I’m not the finished product, so hopefully I can become better. “Midfield is a new position for me, but I really enjoy it and hopefully I can play a lot more. I feel more comfortable there.”
