Fiaseman Community Bank Intensifies Community Investment

Fiaseman Community Bank PLC, formerly Fiaseman Rural Bank PLC, has reaffirmed its commitment to community development while outlining ambitious plans to strengthen its capital base and expand operations under the Bank of Ghana’s ongoing banking sector reforms.
Speaking on the sidelines of the bank’s 37th Annual General Meeting (AGM), the Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ransford Effah, said the bank’s mission goes beyond traditional banking services, stressing its continued commitment to investing in the welfare of the communities it serves.
According to him, the 42-year-old bank, headquartered in Bogoso in the Western Region with branches across the Western, Central and Ashanti regions, has consistently channelled a significant portion of its earnings into education, healthcare, agriculture and other community development initiatives.
Mr. Effah disclosed that the bank awarded scholarships worth over GH¢174,000 to 41 students in 2025 as part of its annual educational support programme.
He added that the bank has also renovated school infrastructure to improve teaching and learning within its operational areas.
Beyond education, he said the bank has invested substantially in healthcare through the construction of a male ward for the Himan Community Health Facility, the donation of an incubator to the Asankragwa Government Hospital, the supply of bedsheets and pillowcases to health facilities, as well as the organisation of blood donation exercises.
The Acting CEO further noted that the bank continues to support farmers by providing agricultural inputs and other essential resources to enhance food production and improve livelihoods.
“Our business is not only about making profits. We believe that once profits are made, they must translate into meaningful investments that improve the lives of the people and communities that have supported the bank over the years,” Mr. Effah stated.
Board Chairperson, Mrs. Comfort Danso Yeboah, urged existing shareholders to increase their investments in the bank to help strengthen its capital base and position it to meet any future regulatory requirements introduced by the Bank of Ghana.
She said the continued purchase of shares by shareholders would not only enhance the bank’s financial strength but also enable investors to enjoy higher returns whenever dividends are declared.
According to her, increased shareholding provides shareholders with an opportunity to build wealth while supporting the long-term growth of the bank.
She noted that several financial institutions have struggled to meet the Bank of Ghana’s revised capital requirements, but Fiaseman Community Bank has remained resilient largely because of the confidence and continued investment of its shareholders.
Mrs. Danso Yeboah therefore appealed to both existing and prospective investors to take advantage of the bank’s share offer, expressing confidence in the institution’s future.
Former Board Chairman, Dr. Anthony Sarpong, expressed confidence in the bank’s financial strength, saying it is well positioned to operate independently under the Bank of Ghana’s new regulatory framework.
He revealed that the bank currently has a stated capital of GH¢22 million, exceeding the minimum capital requirement needed to continue operating independently.
Dr. Sarpong said shareholders at the AGM approved a proposal authorising the Board and Management to increase the bank’s authorised shares from 200 million to 500 million to create room for additional investment.
