Tema Integrated Industrial Park Key to Ghana’s Economic Transformation — Minister
The Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, has described the Tema Integrated Industrial Park as a critical national investment that will accelerate Ghana’s industrialisation drive, create jobs and strengthen the country’s economy.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the project in Tema, the Minister said the industrial park represents more than a construction initiative, stressing that it is a strategic investment aimed at positioning Ghana as a competitive manufacturing and export hub in West Africa.
“Today’s ceremony is not merely the commencement of another construction project; it is the deliberate laying of a foundation for a more productive, resilient and competitive economy that prioritises value addition, stimulates enterprise and creates sustainable jobs for our people,” Mr. Adjei said.
He noted that the project would promote value addition across key sectors, increase industrial productivity and provide the infrastructure needed to attract both local and foreign investment.
According to the Minister, the industrial park aligns with the government’s 24-hour economy policy by creating an environment that supports continuous industrial operations, improved productivity and efficient use of infrastructure.
“Through this partnership, the project will deliver world-class industrial infrastructure that supports manufacturing, processing, logistics and export-oriented activities,” he stated.
Mr. Adjei commended President John Dramani Mahama for making industrialisation a national priority, adding that the Tema Integrated Industrial Park reflects the government’s commitment to building a resilient economy driven by production and innovation.
He said the project is being implemented through a partnership involving TDC Ghana Limited, the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) and Arise Integrated Industrial Platforms, whose combined expertise will ensure its long-term success.
The Minister expressed confidence that the development would generate thousands of jobs across manufacturing, logistics and related services while creating new opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises through stronger local value chains.
He also urged the youth in Tema and neighbouring communities to equip themselves with relevant skills to take advantage of the employment and entrepreneurship opportunities expected to emerge from the project.
“Today’s sod-cutting signals our collective determination to build an economy that produces more, exports more, creates more jobs and delivers greater prosperity for all Ghanaians,” Mr. Adjei emphasised.
He assured stakeholders of the government’s commitment to maintaining policies that promote industrial growth, attract investment and diversify Ghana’s economy.
