Davido to Release New Album ORIADÉ

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has announced his sixth studio album, ORIADÉ, which is scheduled for release on July 31, 2026, as he marks 15 years in the music industry with a project he says reflects his authentic African identity.

The singer revealed that the 13-track album represents a deliberate return to the sound that first established him as one of Africa’s biggest music exports, moving away from Western influences in favour of indigenous rhythms and storytelling.

Speaking about the project, Davido said ORIADÉ is rooted in African culture and musical heritage.

“It is really, really African. I’m taking it back to my original Davido kind of music. We’ve done it already, so I’m not really looking to put out Western sound. It’s very African,” he said.

The album’s title combines the Yoruba words Ori (head or destiny) and Adé (crown), symbolising destiny fulfilled and royal heritage. According to the award-winning musician, the project explores themes of purpose, family, gratitude, brotherhood, faith and Nigerian excellence.

ORIADÉ will be Davido’s shortest studio album to date, following the 17-track Timeless (2023) and 5ive (2025). Ahead of the release, the singer unveiled lead single I Know Who I Be, featuring GL_Ceejay and JAZZWRLD, offering fans a glimpse of the album’s direction.

Reflecting on his career, Davido described the album as both a celebration of his journey and a reaffirmation of his purpose.

“Over fifteen years ago, I made a decision to trust something I couldn’t fully explain. I just knew music was my destiny. ORIADÉ is a celebration of the journey that led me to where I am now,” he said.

Music analyst Eric Alper believes the album could mark another defining moment in the singer’s career.

“ORIADÉ arrives as another landmark moment in Davido’s career. With its deeply personal themes, rich cultural foundation and powerful message of purpose, the album stands ready to showcase one of the genre’s defining voices at a new creative peak,” he noted.

The announcement has generated excitement across social media, with many fans welcoming Davido’s decision to embrace a more traditional African sound. Industry observers also expect the concise tracklist to deliver a more focused listening experience, with strong replay value as the countdown to the album’s release gathers momentum.
