Even in my Next Life, I Wont Repeat Marriage

Veteran Ghanaian actor Fred Amugi has revealed that marriage is one aspect of his life he would not choose to repeat if given the opportunity to live another life.

The celebrated actor made the disclosure during an interview, where he reflected on relationships, family life and the changing dynamics of marriage in modern society.

Speaking candidly about his views, Amugi said that while he values companionship and relationships, he would not opt for marriage if he were starting life all over again.

“In my next life, if I am asked what I won’t want to repeat from my previous life, I would say marriage,” he stated.

The actor explained that his position is influenced partly by the significant social changes that have transformed family structures and marital relationships over the years.

According to him, the traditional roles that once defined marriages have evolved considerably as more women pursue higher education and professional careers.

“Before, women didn’t chase careers and office work, so they were usually at home. But now, whatever a man can learn, women can also do the same. And these changes have also affected marital institutions,” he said.

Amugi noted that the changing realities of modern life have altered the expectations and dynamics within many homes, creating a different environment from what existed in previous generations.

Although he did not provide details about his personal experiences in marriage, the veteran actor suggested that public perceptions of his family life may not necessarily reflect reality.

“I’m someone who doesn’t talk about my issues outside, so people assume my home is peaceful. So if I am starting again, I won’t consider marriage,” he remarked.

His comments have since sparked widespread discussion on social media, with opinions divided over his perspective. While some users interpreted the remarks as an indication of personal challenges within marriage, others viewed them as a broader commentary on the evolving nature of relationships and family life in contemporary society.

Known for his decades-long contribution to Ghana’s film industry, Amugi remains one of the country’s most respected actors. His latest remarks have once again ignited conversations about marriage, changing social values and the realities facing couples in modern times.
