OB Amposah Launch Black Star Tour Across U.S.

Ghana’s comedy heavyweights OB Amponsah, Lekzy DeComic, and Clemento Suarez are set to headline the Black Star Comedy Tour across the United States this summer, bringing a blend of satire, storytelling and cultural reflection to diaspora audiences. The tour, inspired by Ghana’s Black Star symbol of resilience, aims to showcase the rising global influence of Ghanaian stand-up comedy while connecting communities abroad through shared humor and identity.
The tour begins on June 20, 2026, at Columbus, Ohio’s Church Auditorium (2595 E Dublin Granville Rd) from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. It will then move to Woodbridge, Virginia on July 3, before concluding in Atlanta, Georgia on July 4, both evening shows scheduled for 7 p.m. Organisers say ticket demand has been strong, with prices for Columbus set at $45 and sales available via official and partner platforms including Eventbrite and VIPSocio, as anticipation builds among Ghanaian diaspora communities across the United States.
Headliner OB Amponsah is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s most inventive stand-up voices, balancing comedy with a career in optometry. Born Obarima Amponsah in Wenchi, he is an alumnus of the University of Cape Coast and has built a reputation for observational humour that tackles politics, faith and everyday Ghanaian life. He has featured on CNN African Voices and sold out major venues in Ghana, earning acclaim for his “comedy is medicine” philosophy that likens laughter to healing and clarity for audiences worldwide.
Lekzy DeComic is an award-winning comedian, actor and media personality known for high-energy performances and crowd engagement. He has won consecutive Ghana Comedy Awards and is celebrated for specials that have gone viral online, positioning him as a key driver of Ghana’s modern comedy wave.
Clemento Suarez is a versatile performer known for comedy, acting and music, with acclaimed roles in television and film. His dynamic stage presence and large social media following have made him a standout figure in Ghana’s entertainment industry and a frequent collaborator with fellow comedians on major tours.
The Black Star Comedy Tour underscores Ghana’s expanding cultural export footprint and growing demand for African comedy across global stages worldwide.
