BetPawa Commits GH¢3.5 Million to Support Black Stars and Black Queens

BetPawa has announced a sponsorship package worth more than GH¢3.5 million to support Ghana’s senior national football teams, the Black Stars and Black Queens, as they prepare for major international competitions.
The sponsorship, unveiled in Accra, is expected to support the Black Stars’ FIFA World Cup qualification campaign and the Black Queens’ preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Speaking at the announcement, BetPawa’s Head of Local Marketing and Corporate Social Responsibility, Borah Omary Ndanyugu, described football as one of Ghana’s strongest unifying forces and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the development of the sport.
She noted that BetPawa has maintained a strong partnership with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) over the past three years and intends to continue investing in Ghanaian football.
According to her, the company has already invested more than GH¢4 million through its local football sponsorship programme, which rewards players in the Ghana Premier League and the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League for victories.
Under the initiative, players on winning teams receive GH¢450 directly through mobile money after each match. The programme, she said, has contributed significantly to player welfare and motivation across the domestic leagues.
Ms. Ndanyugu indicated that the latest support package extends the company’s commitment from local football to the national teams, with the aim of strengthening preparations and improving Ghana’s chances of success on the continental and global stage.
As part of the package, players of the Black Queens will receive 20,000 points for every victory recorded during the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
She stressed that BetPawa’s relationship with the GFA is built on trust, shared ambition and measurable impact, adding that the company remains committed to the long term growth and success of Ghanaian football.
Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, Mark Addo, expressed appreciation to BetPawa for its continued support, describing the sponsorship as a reaffirmation of confidence in Ghana’s football talent and national teams.
He said the support comes at a crucial period when both the Black Stars and Black Queens are preparing to represent the country in major international competitions.
According to Addo, football remains a powerful institution that unites people across the country, regardless of their backgrounds, occupations or geographical locations.
He noted that the success of the national teams inspires millions of Ghanaians and creates opportunities for young people, particularly girls who look up to the achievements of the Black Queens.
He also emphasized that football excellence cannot be achieved by players alone and highlighted the importance of corporate partnerships in sustaining the growth and development of the game in Ghana.
