Abu Iddris Confirms Death of Actress Beverly Afaglo After Two-Year Cancer Battle

Popular Ghanaian actress Beverly Afaglo has died after a courageous two-year battle with cancer, her manager, Abu Iddris, has confirmed.
According to Iddris, the actress passed away on Saturday night at approximately 11:45 p.m. at the Tema International Maritime Hospital after what he described as a “relentless war” against the disease.
“It happened last night around 11:45 p.m. at Tema International Maritime Hospital,” Iddris said in an emotional interview. “She’s been battling cancer for two years. It’s been a relentless war. She really fought hard, and this is where it ended.”
Iddris disclosed that Afaglo had been suffering from a genetic form of breast cancer that later spread despite undergoing extensive treatment both in Ghana and abroad.
“It was breast cancer, but it was genetic and had spread,” he explained. “She had been unwell for a very long time, but because she was fighting and going through treatment, she continued to live her life and give her best.”
Despite her deteriorating health, the actress reportedly remained active in her career and personal life. Iddris revealed that Afaglo continued filming productions, including Things Paradise, while undergoing treatment.
“In fact, we shot Things Paradise while she was receiving treatment,” he said. “She lived well and continued doing her very best until the very end.”
The manager also disclosed that Afaglo had been receiving treatment in the United States, where doctors believed she had better chances of recovery due to advanced cancer care facilities. However, she made the difficult decision to return to Ghana to spend time with her children and loved ones.
“She was supposed to stay in the U.S. because the treatment there was more advanced and her chances were better,” Iddris said. “But she chose to come back home to be with her people and especially her children, knowing the situation. That is the kind of person Beverly was.”
He added that the family and close associates are still struggling to process the devastating loss.
“We are taking things slowly today,” he stated. “It just happened, and we are trying to breathe and think about everything. Right now, we need to grieve our sister. There is no information about funeral arrangements yet.”
Beverly Afaglo is remembered not only for her talent on screen but also for her resilience, warmth and dedication to family even in the face of grave illness.
