TGMA Organisers Investigating Audio Disruptions, Says Robert Klah

Public Relations Officer for the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), Robert Klah, has responded to concerns over sound disruptions during the recently held awards ceremony, stating that audience experiences differed depending on how they followed the event.

Speaking in an interview, Klah addressed criticism from viewers and fans over the audio quality during some performances. While some patrons at the venue reported issues with microphones appearing low or inactive on stage, others watching on television and online streaming platforms also complained about interruptions during parts of the broadcast.

Responding to the concerns, Klah said discussions surrounding the issue must take into account the varying experiences across different platforms.

“I think that for sound, we need to be able to have a 360 view about it,” he stated.

According to him, the sound quality inside the auditorium largely met expectations despite a few isolated technical challenges during portions of the programme.

“There is sound that’s coming from the auditorium basically and I think that for the most part, we were all happy about it except for some portions and patches,” he explained.

Klah further noted that many of the complaints received so far appeared to be linked to online streaming and some broadcast platforms rather than the in-house auditorium experience.

“I think the comments I’ve heard usually are tied to what was happening online,” he added, noting that organisers are still investigating the exact cause of the disruptions.

Despite the backlash on social media, Klah maintained that the technical glitches represented only a small part of the overall production concerns surrounding the event.

Sound quality has remained one of the major talking points following the 27th TGMA, with several viewers expressing disappointment online over interruptions that affected performances and sections of the live broadcast.
