CBG Reaffirms Commitment to Women’s Health

The Managing Director of Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited, Dr. Naomi Wolali Kwetey, has reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to preventive healthcare, women’s empowerment, and community development.

This follows a large-scale free medical outreach held in the Adaklu District of the Volta Region, where hundreds of women benefited.

The exercise, held on Saturday, May 9, formed part of activities marking Mother’s Day and brought together hundreds of women from across the district for free health screening services and related support initiatives.

Speaking during the outreach, Dr. Kwetey said the initiative was focused on improving women’s health through early detection and preventive care, especially at a time when many women have limited access to routine medical checks.

She noted that preventive healthcare remains essential to national development, adding that CBG is contributing to Ghana’s efforts to strengthen community health systems.

According to her, many working women often live with undiagnosed conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and cholesterol-related complications due to busy schedules and limited screening opportunities.

She said the outreach was designed to bridge that gap by bringing essential health services directly to the people in Adaklu.

Nearly 1,000 women benefited from free screenings, covering blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol checks, alongside counselling and basic medical advice.

Dr. Kwetey stressed that all services provided were completely free of charge, describing the initiative as part of the bank’s wider social responsibility agenda.

In addition to healthcare services, the programme also included financial literacy education aimed at improving the economic wellbeing of women alongside their health.

She further indicated that CBG intends to deepen its engagement with the Adaklu community and is considering adopting the district for future long-term interventions, including follow-up health and financial support programmes.

Dr. Kwetey expressed appreciation to the Volta Regional Minister, the Member of Parliament Kwame Governs Agbodza, and the District Chief Executive for their support in making the outreach successful.

She described the Adaklu programme as the climax of similar interventions carried out by the bank over the past five to six months across the country.

Dr. Kwetey concluded by extending Mother’s Day greetings to all women, adding that the bank remains committed to supporting communities through health and financial empowerment initiatives.
