Queiroz Begins European Tour to Engage Black Stars Players

Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has embarked on a European tour to monitor and engage Ghanaian players as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Portuguese trainer, who was unveiled in Accra last week, officially began his duties with a local assessment of the Black Galaxies before departing for Europe last Sunday. His trip forms a key part of efforts to build a cohesive and competitive squad ahead of the global tournament.
Since arriving in Europe, Carlos Queiroz has already held discussions with team captain Jordan Ayew and midfield anchor Thomas Partey. The meetings are aimed at strengthening leadership within the squad and aligning key players with his technical vision.
The coach is expected to engage several other senior players while also scouting emerging talents. He will attend matches across various leagues to closely observe the form and fitness of Ghanaian players competing abroad.
Sources close to the team indicate that Queiroz intends to use the tour to communicate his tactical philosophy and outline his plans for the World Cup. His engagement is not limited to established players, as he is also assessing potential additions who could strengthen the squad.
Members of his backroom staff are supporting the exercise, ensuring that both experienced players and new prospects are thoroughly evaluated.
Coach Queiroz will lead Ghana to its fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup 2026, scheduled to take place in Canada, Mexico and the United States in June.
The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L, where they will face Panama, England and Croatia in what promises to be a competitive group stage.
