GOIL, Star Oil Lead Fuel Price Increases Ahead of April Pricing Window

Fuel prices at the pumps have begun rising as major Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) adjust their rates ahead of the first pricing window for April.
The adjustments follow compliance with the National Petroleum Authority’s (NPA) newly set price floor, alongside upward pressure from global oil market trends driven by ongoing geopolitical tensions.
State-owned GOIL was among the first to implement the revised pricing. Petrol now sells at GH¢13.30 per litre, up from GH¢12.24, while diesel has increased to GH¢17.10 per litre from GH¢15.69. The price of Super XP 95, however, remains unchanged at GH¢14.35 per litre.
Star Oil has also revised its prices upward. Petrol has risen from GH¢12.19 to GH¢13.49 per litre, while diesel now sells at GH¢17.97 per litre, up from GH¢15.69. RON 95 has also increased from GH¢14.25 to GH¢15.25 per litre.
According to Star Oil, the price adjustments were driven by global market developments, particularly rising crude oil prices linked to geopolitical tensions. The company noted that although it initially planned to maintain prices until April 1, increased demand and the depletion of previously priced stock forced an earlier review.
Industry watchers expect more OMCs to follow suit in the coming days as they align with the NPA’s new pricing benchmarks.
Under the new price floor for the first April window, petrol is set at a minimum of GH¢13.30 per litre, while diesel is pegged at GH¢17.10 per litre. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) will also sell at a minimum of GH¢10.71 per kilogram.
