NACOC Arrests Six in Bono East Anti Drug Crackdown

The Bono-East Regional Command of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has apprehended six individuals in a targeted operation aimed at curbing the proliferation of illicit drugs in the Nkoranza South District.

The exercise, code-named Operation Clean Street, was conducted on Friday, March 27, 2026, at identified drug hotspots in Donkor-Nkwanta. The swoop forms part of intensified efforts by the Commission to combat drug trafficking and abuse, particularly among the youth in vulnerable communities.

According to a statement issued on NACOC’s official Facebook page on Saturday, March 28, the operation was driven by actionable intelligence and is one of several ongoing interventions designed to disrupt drug supply chains and enhance public safety in the region.

The suspects, all young men aged between 20 and 23, have been identified as Ismael Tahiru, Edward Adai, Opoku Kwame, Benjamin Atinga, Isaac Antwi, and Emmanuel Brobbey. They are currently in custody and assisting investigators with further inquiries.

A search conducted during the raid uncovered a quantity of substances believed to be cannabis and other synthetic drugs. Among the items retrieved were four blisters of Tramadol (250mg), six boxes of a substance known as “Gold Seal,” approximately 60 rolls of cannabis, additional parcels of the substance, and quantities of locally prepared cannabis. Officers also seized rolling papers and a lighter believed to have been used in drug consumption.

In addition, a motorcycle and several tools including kitchen knives, scissors, and a hammer were confiscated during the operation. Authorities say these items are being held as part of ongoing investigations.

NACOC reaffirmed its resolve to sustain intelligence-led operations to dismantle drug networks and reduce substance abuse across communities in the Bono-East Region. The Commission further called on the public to play an active role in the fight against illegal drugs by providing timely and credible information to support law enforcement efforts.

The suspects are expected to face prosecution upon the conclusion of investigations.
