Vysionaire Shares Message Behind “Bad News Bug”

Roots reggae artist Vysionaire has opened up about his musical journey, creative influences, and the inspiration behind his latest single “Bad News Bug”, describing his career as a calling rooted in purpose and discipline.

Speaking in a candid interview on Reggae Cafe on ZED 101.9 FM, the artiste explained that selecting a producer goes beyond technical ability. “Chemistry is number one, along with the sound and the qualities a producer brings,” he said, stressing the importance of connection in achieving the desired musical outcome.

Reflecting on his beginnings, Vysionaire recounted his first experience in the studio more than two decades ago. “About 21 years ago, a co-worker took me to the studio to record my first demo titled ‘One Step at a Time’,” he revealed. He added that his early ambitions were initially outside music. “My first intention was to join the army, but I realised it was a different calling. I understood I was meant for something else,” he said.

The artist noted that his journey has been heavily influenced by reggae greats such as Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Dennis Brown, and Burning Spear. “It is a calling. When you stay focused despite distractions, you begin to understand your purpose,” he said.

On his new release, Vysionaire highlighted his collaboration with producer Sidney Mills, describing their working relationship as seamless. “From the first time we worked together, it felt like family. He gives me the quality I need, and now he is the one I go to for recording,” he noted.

Discussing the message behind “Bad News Bug”, the artist said the song is grounded in real-life experiences. “It speaks about people who push false narratives about you and focus more on tearing you down instead of building you up,” he explained.

He added that the song aims to inspire resilience among listeners. “It is reality. People will always try to bring you down, but you have to stay focused and true to your purpose,” he said.

Vysionaire believes the track’s message will resonate widely, encouraging audiences to rise above negativity and remain committed to their goals.
