Nigerian chef Hilda Baci moves jollof rice festival to bigger venue

Nigerian celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has announced a change of venue for her much-anticipated Jollof Rice Festival with Gino, originally scheduled to host around 3,000 participants.

The event, set for today, Friday, 12 September 2025, has attracted overwhelming interest, with more than 20,000 people registering to attend.

To accommodate the surge and ensure safety, Hilda and her team have relocated the festival to the expansive grounds of Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

Despite the change, the chef confirmed that the festival remains free of charge, with unlimited servings of food available to all guests.

More than just a celebration of Nigerian cuisine, the event will also feature a new Guinness World Record attempt.

Hilda plans to prepare 250 bags of rice in a 22,619-litre pot, in pursuit of the record for the largest pot of Nigerian Jollof Rice ever cooked.

Speaking ahead of the festival, she expressed her excitement and confidence, promising attendees an unforgettable experience that will blend food, culture and history in one monumental culinary showcase.
