Ghana wins 3 gold medals in track events at caa region ii seniors athletics championship

 The University of Ghana witnessed a spectacular display of athletic prowess as Ghana’s athletics team secured three gold medals on the first day of the ongoing Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Region II Seniors Athletics Championship.

The day’s highlights included Edwin Kwabla Gadayi’s remarkable performance in the men’s 100m final.

Gadayi clinched the gold medal with a swift time of 10.28 seconds, narrowly defeating Nigeria’s Israel Okon, who finished at 10.34 seconds.

Ishmael Arthur contributed to Ghana’s gold tally by dominating the men’s 10,000m race.

Arthur’s performance was unparalleled, as he effortlessly secured the top spot without significant competition.

The women’s 4×100 relay team rounded off the triumphant day for Ghana.

In a thrilling race against Nigeria, the team emerged victorious, showcasing exceptional coordination and speed to secure the gold medal.

The championship, featuring ten West African countries including Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Gabon, Burkina Faso, Senegal, and Côte d’Ivoire, serves as a crucial qualifier for the Paris Olympic Games scheduled for later this year.

Ghana’s impressive start sets a high standard for the remaining days of the championship, with hopes running high for further successes as the event progresses.
