Black Stars arrive in Bamako for crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers today

The Black Stars have touched down in Bamako, gearing up for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Eagles of Mali on Thursday, June 6.

The team, eager to secure a victory, departed Accra at 5 PM and arrived in Bamako around 7 PM GMT via ASKY Airlines after an intensive five-day training session in Accra.

This Group I clash is pivotal for the Black Stars, who aim to top the group and secure their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The team is determined to bounce back after a disappointing loss to Comoros in November last year.

All 26 players invited by Coach Otto Addo made the trip, underscoring the seriousness of the encounter.

The squad includes goalkeepers Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Fredrick Asare, and Joseph Wollacott; defenders Alidu Seidu, Tariq Lamptey, Salisu Mohammed, Jerome Opoku, Alexander Djiku, Abdul Mumin, Gideon Mensah, and Ebenezer Annan.

The midfield lineup features Thomas Partey, Salis Abdul Samed, Mohammed Kudus, Ernest Nuamah, Ibrahim Sulemana, Edmund Addo, Elisha Owusu, and Abu Francis.

The forwards consist of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Osman Bukari, Antoine Semenyo, Jordan Ayew, Ibrahim Osman, Kamal Deen Sulemana, and Brandon Thomas-Asante.

A victory in Bamako would significantly boost Ghana’s chances of advancing from the group stage and moving closer to their goal of competing in the global football festival.

With the entire squad in top form and ready for the challenge, fans back home and across the continent are hopeful for a triumphant performance from the Black Stars.
