Mayweather, Pacquiao Set for Blockbuster Rematch in Las Vegas

Boxing icons Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao are poised to renew their storied rivalry in a stunning rematch scheduled for September 19 in Las Vegas.
Mayweather, 48, will officially come out of retirement to face Pacquiao, 47, at the state-of-the-art Sphere, 11 years after their first meeting, a bout famously billed as the ‘Fight of the Century’.
When the pair first clashed on May 2, 2015, Mayweather secured a unanimous decision victory, extending his unbeaten professional record at the time. He would later retire with a flawless 50-0 record following wins over Andre Berto and UFC star Conor McGregor.
“I already fought and beat Manny once. This time will be the same result,” Mayweather declared.
Since retiring, the American has participated in several high-profile exhibition bouts, including contests against Logan Paul, Aaron Chalmers and John Gotti III, most recently facing the latter in August 2024.
Pacquiao, meanwhile, returned to professional action on July 19, 2025, challenging Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight championship. The bout ended in a majority draw, allowing Barrios to retain his title. The Filipino legend holds a career record of 62-8-3 and has fought eight times since his defeat to Mayweather.
“Floyd and I gave the world what remains the biggest fight in boxing history. The fans have waited long enough, they deserve this rematch, and it will be even bigger now that it will be streamed live globally on Netflix. I want Floyd to live with the one loss on his professional record and always remember who gave it to him. As always, I dedicate this fight to my fellow Filipinos around the world and to bringing glory to the Philippines,” Pacquiao said.
Their first encounter remains one of the most lucrative events in boxing history, setting records for gate revenue and pay-per-view sales, with 4.6 million buys worldwide.
Though their 2015 showdown drew criticism for lacking explosive action, it was a commercial phenomenon and a defining moment of an era dominated by two of boxing’s greatest champions.
Now, more than a decade later, the long-running rivalry will once again capture global attention as two generational greats step back into the ring in what promises to be another historic night in Las Vegas.
