Alabaster Box Says Legal Battle With Medikal Still Before Court
Gospel music group Alabaster Box has confirmed that its legal dispute with rapper Medikal remains pending in court after attempts to resolve the matter privately collapsed.
Speaking in an interview, the group disclosed that its legal team is actively pursuing the case, following unsuccessful efforts to reach an amicable settlement outside the courtroom.
According to Alabaster Box, initial steps were taken to address the issue through dialogue facilitated by intermediaries. Both parties reportedly agreed to involve neutral representatives to help broker a professional resolution. However, the process broke down when legal counsel became involved.
“Our intention was never to escalate tensions but to reach a fair resolution through mutual understanding. The first thing we did was call his people, and they brought in a middle person. We also brought our middle person, who happened to be a lawyer, and they ran away from that prospect. Even when we brought in the lawyer, it wasn’t like we were going to squeeze them. We were hoping to settle this properly,” the group said during the interview.
The group explained that despite their willingness to negotiate, the talks stalled, leaving them with no option but to allow the legal process to take its course.
Alabaster Box further revealed that the court granted an order for substitute service after attempts to formally serve Medikal with legal documents proved unsuccessful. The order permitted the delivery of court notices through alternative means, including public postings and online platforms, in line with judicial procedures.
With the case now firmly before the judiciary, the group noted that any potential out-of-court settlement would require the court’s supervision and approval.
They expressed disappointment that earlier discussions did not yield a resolution, maintaining that they approached the matter with professionalism and maturity.
“We did everything we could to handle this amicably. At this point, we are confident that justice will prevail,” the group added.
As of the time of filing this report, Medikal and his representatives had not publicly responded to the claims.
