ADUG Announces 15% Cut in Vehicle Prices as Cedi Stabilises

The Automobile Dealers Union of Ghana (ADUG) has announced a 15 per cent reduction in vehicle prices, citing the relative stability of the Ghana cedi against the US dollar and the abolition of the COVID-19 levy as key factors behind the move.

In a statement issued in Accra on Sunday, February 15, 2026, the Union said the price adjustment fulfils its earlier pledge to review vehicle prices downward once the exchange rate showed sustained signs of stability.

According to ADUG, the reduction reflects its longstanding commitment to ensure that improvements in the macroeconomic environment benefit consumers rather than result in excess profiteering.

“This decisive action reflects the Union’s long-standing promise to Ghanaians that any meaningful stabilization of the exchange rate would translate into fairer vehicle pricing, rather than excess profiteering. We are pleased to state that our members have acted in good faith and with a strong sense of national responsibility,” the statement said.

Over the past several months, vehicle prices in Ghana have been significantly impacted by exchange rate volatility, high import duties, shipping costs and global supply chain pressures. Dealers had repeatedly assured the public that prices would be reviewed once economic conditions improved.

With recent gains in currency stability and a more consistent exchange rate environment, ADUG said its members have now honoured that pledge by adjusting prices across a broad range of vehicles. The reduction applies to brand-new vehicles, hybrid and electric models, as well as home-used vehicles.

The statement, signed by the National President of ADUG, Mr. Eric Kwaku Boateng, expressed appreciation to Ghanaians for their patience and continued confidence in the organised automobile trade during the period of economic uncertainty.

“We thank the public for their understanding over the past months. Our commitment remains to operate transparently and in the best interest of consumers,” Mr. Boateng stated.

The Union further reaffirmed its dedication to supporting the national economy and ensuring that pricing within the automobile sector remains fair, competitive and responsive to prevailing economic conditions.
