England Line Up June Friendlies Ahead of World Cup Clash with Ghana

Ghana’s Group L opponents at the upcoming FIFA World Cup, England, have announced two international friendlies in June as part of their final preparations for the tournament.

The Three Lions will take on New Zealand on June 6 before facing Costa Rica four days later, just a day before the World Cup kicks off.

Prior to the June fixtures, Thomas Tuchel’s side will also play Uruguay on March 27 and Japan on March 31 as they fine-tune their squad ahead of the global showpiece.

England have been drawn in Group L alongside Ghana, Croatia and Panama, and will be aiming to secure their first major international trophy since winning the 1966 World Cup.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars will step up their own preparations with friendly matches against Austria on March 27 and Germany three days later.

Ghana will begin their World Cup campaign against Panama on Wednesday, June 17, before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has tipped England as favourites to top Group L.

Ghana will be seeking to progress beyond the group stage for the first time since 2014, having exited at the first round in their last two World Cup appearances.
