Thomas Partey Charged with Two Additional Counts of Rape
Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with two additional counts of rape, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has confirmed.
Partey, 32, is already due to stand trial in November after denying five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault involving three women.
The alleged offences are said to have taken place between 2021 and 2022.
The CPS has now authorised two further counts of rape against the Ghana international.
Partey is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, March 13, in connection with the new allegations.
When he appeared at Southwark Crown Court in September last year, Partey pleaded not guilty to the initial charges. He was formally charged four days after leaving Arsenal at the end of June, following the expiration of his contract with the north London club.
Currently on bail, Partey is set to face trial on November 2. His bail conditions allow him to continue his professional career but require him to notify police at least 24 hours in advance of any international travel. He is also prohibited from contacting the complainants.
Partey now plays for Spanish La Liga side Villarreal and remains a key figure in the Ghana national team. Ghana are scheduled to face England in the group stage of the World Cup in the United States on June 23.
